I'm delighted to have the lovely Ann B Harrison with me today, chatting about the outback, kilts and stilettos! Intrigued? Read on...

After moving to the lush green Hunter Valley, Ann has the perfect surrounding to let her imagination to run wild. She alternates her time between writing sexy rural romances.

Men in kilts bring Ann to her knees and she can’t wait to visit Scotland where she can get her fill of the tartan clad hotties for, um research purposes, of course.

In the meantime, her DH puts up with her talking to her characters and getting lost in worlds only she can imagine as she battles to bring stories to the page for everyone to enjoy.

Q. Can you tell us a bit more about ‘Outback in Stilettos’ and why you used it as the setting for your book?
It’s no secret I’m a country girl and most of my stories centre around rural life. I had the idea of taking a city dweller used to all modern comforts and plonking her in the middle of the outback to see how she would react. The outcome was rather interesting to watch.

Q. If you had a choice where would you choose to live, and why?
I actually think I live in the best part of the world already. I’m in a beautiful lush valley known for its wine growing and fabulous food only a couple of hours away from Sydney, Australia. What more could I possibly want or need.

Q. Have any places inspired you to write, and why?
I take inspiration from the countryside around me but it can be something as simple as a passing glimpse, a flicker of eye contact or a sound that start me off with another idea.

Q. How important do you think the setting is when you write a story?
I never understood this when I first started writing, now I know how important it is. If you don’t feel as though you’re in your setting, neither will your readers. Last week I took a trip to Sydney just so I could stand on the steps of a police station featuring in my Deadly Heritage series so I could soak up the atmosphere as my lead character, Detective Scarlett Hayes ran down those very steps ever day.

Q. What’s your idea of a perfect day?
Up early to catch up on my emails over breakfast and then getting stuck into my daily word count before I get sidetracked with anything else. I try to write at least two thousand words a day before I start fluffing around.

Q. Can you tell us anything about your next book?
I’m currently working on a few right now. I have the second book in my Outback Heritage series Sassie, almost ready to release in April. I have a short novella, Hawk ready for release in March and I’m madly trying to finish the second book in the Deadly Heritage series with Scarlett and Casa butting heads and tempers once again. That will be released in May.

Q. If you weren’t a writer, what would be your next choice of career?
Probably a gardener. I make sure I potter around in my vege patch every day if only for a few minutes to soothe the mind. Love my greenery.

The most popular soap on television hangs in the balance because Delilah Connors has lost her mojo. Her agent decides she needs a break.
Delilah disagrees but when her agent says jump, she jumps! She heads for the outback on a bus tour from hell. The coach smells, her seating partner is an octopus and the road leads nowhere she wants to go. It’s all too much.
She grabs her bags and hits the track. The trouble is the track leads to two small children and a widowed farmer. The kids are cute but not cute enough to compensate for an archaic kitchen and the filthy flies. Just when she’s getting the hang of the outback, the flies and that sexy farmer she’s summoned back to the big smoke.
Blake makes a last ditch attempt to plead his case but amongst the glitter and glamour of the Sydney film elite, he is way out of his depth.
